mindscapefilms:

Work on visual effects has begun and there’s 89 shots to do over the next couple of weeks (maybe less if I trim some scenes down). And here’s a nice non spoilerish one with a pointless piece of trivia attached.

We shot this scene in Claire’s house, and weeks prior we’d been discussing if we were going to see the floorboards or not (as they were painted white) and whether we would should sand them. I opted yes, and because I made the decision, I ended up sanding the ENTIRE room (and anyone who’s sanded floorboards with paint on them, knows what a back breaking job it is).

When we came to shoot the scene, this is the ONLY shot we ended up seeing the floorboards in, and still (because I’d gotten lazy sanding the edges) ended up having to say “ehhh, I’ll fix it in post”.

    And here we are.

“Fix it in post” are probably the four worst words a compositor could hear. I feel bad for them since I always hear horror stories of how they get stuck doing everything…I think it’s also due to some film makers’ lack of knowledge on what is actually plausible.
